 Pilates

What is pilates?

If you have or suffer from any form of  injury or spinal pathology, Pilates is probably the safest form of exercise  for you. Pilates focuses on correct postural alignment. The exercises are precise , slow and controlled. Engagement of the deep postural muscles of the back and the abdomin are the primary focus. A repretoire of exercises are performed in a sequence that strengthens deep stabilizing muscles and stretches tight overworked muscles.

Class Size

At True2Form we only allow a maximum of 5 participants in our group Pilates class. The small class size enables the instructor to closely monitor each participants alignment and technique when performing the exercises. Hands on correction of alignment and positive reinforcement of your progress is what you should expect from your  Pilates Instuctor.

Can Anyone Do Pilates?

Most people can perform pilates exercises with proper instruction. It is important to start at the Essential Level if you have little or no experience with a Pilates program or if you are not very active. If you have a muscle or joint injury, it would be wise to schedule at least 3 private sessions with an instructor so they can provide you with modifictions that are appropriate for your condition. Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors often refer clients to a remedial pilates instuctor who can safely integrate specific, rehabilitative exercise into a recovery program.
